I.Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the past continuous tense and practise doing some kinds of exercises related to the past continuous tense

II. Procedure:

1. Revision: (15’) *The past continuous (Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn)

*Cấu trúc :S + was/ were +V-ing + (O) + A

Cách sử dụng:

- Dùng thì quá khứ tiếp diễn để diễn tá hành động đang diễn ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ)

Ex: At 3.30 the tortoise was running ahead of the hare.

- Diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ. (Martha was watching TV at seven o'clock last night); một hành động đang xảy ra trong quá khứ thì bị một hành động khác "chen ngang" (khi đang thì bỗng ) He was watching TV when I came home)

- Hai hành động cùng đồng thời xảy ra trong quá khứ. Ex: Lan was watching television while Nam was reading a book.)

*Dấu hiện nhận biết thì quá khứ tiếp diễn:

-Câu có dấu hiệu về thời gian khi hành động quá khứ đang xảy ra như : at that moment, at that time, at 7 o'clock yesterday.

-Câu có 2 vế, mỗi vế chứa một hành động quá khứ, chúng ta chia theo công thức

Thì hiện tại hoàn thảnh chỉ một hành động đó được hoàn thành. Chúng ta nghĩ đến kết quả của nó khi mô tả:
Ví dụ:
1. Một hành động hay hoàn cảnh được bắt đầu trong quá khứ và tiếp tục diễn ra ở hiện tại:
I have lived in Canada since 1984. (and I still do)

Period 3 Review unit 7: Vocabulary: Pollution and words/ phrases showing cause/ effect relationship
I.Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to widen their vocabulary about pollution and they know how to show the relationship between cause and effect.
II. Procedure: 
1. Revision: -Words/ phrases showing cause/ effect relationship
Cause
Effect 
* Because/ since and due to /because of are used to talk about the cause of something
- because and since are synonyms and they come before a clause.
- due to and because of are synonyms and they come before a noun phrase.
*Other words and phrases in the box express the effects of something.
Eg: They didn’t go out because/ as/ since it rtained heavily last Sundayà 
They didn’t go out due to/ beause of the heavy rain last Sunday.
- so comes before a clause
- to cause/ to lead to and to result in are synonyms and come before a noun phrase
- to make somebody/ something do sth is another way to express the effects. After somebody/ something is an infinitive verb without to.
Eg: Last Sunday it rained heavily, so they didn’t go out.

I.Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will know how to use the conditional sentence type 1 , and type 2 and do some exercises related to this grammar point.
II. Procedure: Revision: (15’) 
*Cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại 2
If + S + V (quá khứ), S + would + V (nguyên mẫu)
- Trong câu điều kiện loại II, động từ của mệnh đề điều kiện chia ở bang thái cách (past subjunctive), động từ của mệnh đề chính chia ở thì điều kiện hiện tại (simple conditional). Chú ý: Bàng thái cách (Past subjunctive) là hình thức chia động từ giống hệt như thì quá khư đơn, riêng động từ “to be” thì dùng “were” cho tất cả các ngôi.
Ví dụ: If I were a bird, I would be very happy. (Nếu tôi là một con chim, tôi sẽ rất hạnh phúc.) <= tôi không thể là chim được
If I had a million USD, I would buy that car. (Nếu tôi có một triệu đô la, tôi sẽ mua chiếc xe đó.) <= hiện tại tôi không có

II. Procedure:1.Revision: 
Loại 1:Công thức :
IF S + V (hiện tại) , S + WILL ( CAN, MAY) + V (nguyên mẫu)
Cách dùng:Chỉ sự việc có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai.
Ví dụ:If it is sunny, I will go fishing. ( nếu trời nắng, tôi sẽ đi câu)
Loại 2:Công thức :
IF S + V (quá khứ) , S + WOULD ( COULD, MIGHT ) + V (nguyên mẫu)
 ( be luôn dùng were dù chủ từ số ít hay nhiều )
Cách dùng:Chỉ sự việc không thể hoặc khó có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai.
Ví dụ:If I were you, I would go abroad. ( nếu tôi là bạn, tôi sẽ đi nước ngoài)
LƯU Ý:
+ Unless = if not : trừ phi
+ Bên mệnh đề có if, chữ had trong loại 3, chữ were trong loại 2 và chữ should trong loại 1 có thể đem ra đầu câu thế cho if.
( chữ should đôi khi có thể dùng trong loại 1 với nghĩa làm cho câu mơ hồ hơn)
Ví dụ:
- If he should call, . ( nếu mà anh ta có gọi, ) => không biết có gọi hay không
= Should he call, . ( nếu mà anh ta có gọi, ) 
- If I were you, 
= Were I you, .
