I. Objectives.
- By the end of this lesson, students will be able to :
+/Pronounce the stress in words ending in |ic | and |ai| correctly in isolation and in context.
+/ Newwords: contamination, spill ,defects,Exposed
* Better Ss can use some words to make sentences
+/ Skills: Listening, speaking, writing.
II. Teaching aids.
- Teacher: Auxiliary boards and flash cards, computer, projector.
- Students: Prepare the new words , practice pronouncing these words.
III. Procedure.

II. Teaching aids. - Teacher: Auxiliary boards and flash cards, computer, projector. - Students: Prepare the new words , practice pronouncing these words. III. Procedure. Teacher’s and students’activities Contents 1. Organization: (1’) 2. Checking the old lesson: (5’) - Ask 1-2 Ss to write on the board the types of pollution. - Ask 1 St to retell the types of pollution that your neiborhood often face. 3. New lesson: *Warm up. (2’)To introdure the new lesson. - Ask Ss to call out the types of pollution they learnt in previous lesson.. Activity 1. VOCABULARY.(19’) 1. Complete the table with appropriate verbs.nouns and adj. - T gives the vocabulary. - Ask Ss to practice the newwords, and pay attention to the pronunciation. - T shows each word and Ss read inchorus first, then call some Ss read the words again. 2. Complete the sentences with the words from the table in 1. You do not need to use all the words . The first letter of each words has been provided. - have Ss look at the table in the book Make sure that they understand what to do Ss complete the exercise individually and then compare their answers with a partner. * Better Ss can use some words to make sentences * Activity 2: PRONUNCIATION. (10’) |ic | and /al/ 5. Listen and mark the stress in each word then repeat it. - First T gives examples of the sounds |ic | and |ai Let the Ss practice the sounds together. T can help Ss pronounce rightly. - Call Ss to read out the words - Have SS do the activities individually . Play the recording for Ss to check their answers. Help ss distinguish the sound | |ic | and |ai and recognize all the words with the two sounds, then underline them - Help them to do activity 6 at home 4. Production.(5’) *Work in group - Let them work in group T goes around and gives assistance if necessary, and check their answers. 5. Home work.(3’) - Learn by heart the newwords, and check the pronunciation of new words, make sentences with some words. - Prepare A closer look 2: Review grammar Conditional sentences type 1, Study the new grammar: Conditional sentences type 2 and make the different between them.
